Is formaldehyde serious in plywood

Sep 01, 2024 Leave a message

Formaldehyde is a volatile organic compound used in the production of plywood, and therefore it is usually present in adhesives. The severity of formaldehyde in plywood depends on the manufacturing process and the type of adhesive used
1. Plywood products from different manufacturers may use different types of adhesives and manufacturing processes. Some manufacturers may use more environmentally friendly adhesives to reduce formaldehyde emissions, while others may use adhesives with higher formaldehyde content. Therefore, the quality of the product and the reputation of the manufacturer are crucial to the severity of formaldehyde content.
2. The release of formaldehyde from plywood mainly occurs in the early stages of production, so a significant amount of formaldehyde may be released during the furniture manufacturing process. Over time, the release amount will gradually decrease. Indoor ventilation can also affect the concentration of formaldehyde, and good ventilation can help reduce indoor formaldehyde concentration.
What is the national standard for formaldehyde emissions from plywood
Plywood belongs to artificial boards. According to the national "Classification of Formaldehyde Emissions from Artificial Boards and Their Products" (GB/T 39600-2021), the formaldehyde emissions from plywood vary depending on the grade
1. E1 grade plywood should have a formaldehyde emission of ≤ 0.124mg/m ³.
2. E0 grade plywood should have a formaldehyde emission of ≤ 0.05mg/m ³.
3. Enf grade plywood should have a formaldehyde emission of ≤ 0.025mg/m ³.
