What Is Fireproof Plywood?

In the European grading system specified in the European standard EN135011, the fireproof plywood grade is D-S2. When the plywood density is greater than 500kg/m3 and the thickness is not less than 15mm, this fireproof grade can be used directly without further testing.
The building regulations of various countries stipulate the requirements for different fire protection levels for different applications. Generally speaking, the conditions for plywood and its structure to be exposed in buildings are the same as other solid wood plywood. s1-s3 represents the level of smoke generation, and d0-d3 represents the risk level of burning droplets.
The fire resistance of plywood can be improved through flame retardant treatment or inorganic panels. Flame retardants are mainly salt based compounds, which usually have hygroscopicity, meaning they absorb moisture from the surrounding air. Therefore, durability verification of the expected flame retardant treatment must be carried out throughout the entire service life.
